We have removed over 90% of the caffeine while preserving the delicious flavor of matcha and its ingredients such as theanine and catechin. As it is decaffeinated using 100% first-flush tea, the strong matcha flavor remains.
Supercritical carbon dioxide, the same process used to decaffeine coffee, reduces the caffeine content from over 3% to less than 0.4%, while important flavor and functional components such as theanine and catechins are maintained at 90%-100% after processing.
*Due to the decaffeinated process, the bright green color of matcha is slightly lost. Please be careful if you are concerned about the color of matcha. Also, it contains 4mg to 8mg of caffeine per cup (2g), so it is not completely caffeine-free. When introducing it to customers, it cannot be advertised as caffeine-free or non-caffeinated.
